Horror Movies Come to Life: Lethal Clowns Seen Roaming the Streets of Philadelphia

Teens dressed like horror movie clowns have been terrorizing the country for the last couple of weeks. Now, the terror has reached the Philadelphia area. However, the clowns don’t just look intimidating. They have been threatening schools on social media and even carrying around weapons. Several schools in the Philadelphia area have been tormented with bomb and massacre threats, including CAPA, Roman Catholic High School, and even our very own Benjamin Rush. While none of these threats have been executed until this point, school districts are taking these threats seriously.

In an email released on October 2nd, the School District of Philadelphia wrote, “The Philadelphia Police Department is actively investigating these social media posts and pursuing those responsible for them. The SDP Office of School Safety will continue working in concert with the PPD to ensure the safety of our children and our schools…”

These clowns are not something to dismiss. On September 25th, 2016, a fight broke out in Reading, Philadelphia after a person showed up in a clown mask. The fight resulted in the of stabbing a 16-year-old Reading High School student by the masked assailant. A commenter on the situation states, “I’m frightened to think of what might happen on Halloween night, as I’m sure the ‘clowns’ be out in full force…I’d be reluctant to allow kids go out trick or treating.” Will these clowns be to blame for the least active Halloween in recent years?

If you have any information about clown sightings, you’re encouraged to call the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
