On Thursday, December 20th, 2018, The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush held its annual Instrumental Winter Showcase. The event was held in order to help raise funds for the school’s Instrumental Department, but also served as an opportunity for the students in it to exhibit their musical talent.
Those who participated in the show are a part of Rush’s:
- String Ensemble
- Concert Band
- Rush Jazz Orchestra
At The Instrumental Winter Showcase, the students were given another chance to show their peers and community the extent of their artistry. Some of the pieces they performed include: Symphony 26 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Black Panther by Ludwig Goransson, One For Daddy’ O by Nat Adderley, and The Greatest Showman by Sean O’Loughlin.
Directed by their teacher, Mr. Sean Marks, the musicians at Rush exhibited the extents of their musicality through the performance of complex instrumental pieces. Their abilities were further established by their demonstration of understanding and commitment to their art.
The next event to be held at The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush is the Jackie Park Winter Festival, which is an exhibition containing art pieces from all of the majors at the school. The Vocal, Instrumental, Visual, and Dance Departments will all be contributing different student-produced works to the show. The Jackie Park Winter Festival is set to take place on Thursday, January 17th, 2019.
