Netflix has announced that they´re going to be increasing their subscription prices. Since video streaming is becoming a very popular pass-time, the debate of whether Netflix or Hulu is the better streaming service, has surfaced. For starters, a subscription for Hulu is $7.99 for each month, and Netflix’s subscription price is currently $13.00 per month. That’s a five dollar difference between the competing streaming services. In a year, a subscription for Netflix totals to $156, while a subscription for Hulu totals to $95.88 by the end of a year.
Along with the object of money and how much money viewers are willing to spend, picking a streaming site is all about preference. For example, Hulu, unlike Netflix, has talkshows, news casts, and panel shows. Netflix tends to stream movies, as well as shows that have several seasons. Netflix also produces a lot of their own original movies. Hulu, on the other hand, has a live TV option that allows you to watch live TV through their site, if you’re willing to pay a higher fee.
At the end of the day, your decision to subscribe to Netflix’s or Hulu’s streaming service depends on your personal preferences. If movies such as To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before or Bird Box are on your watch list, then give Netflix a try. Or, if you’re drawn to shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, then Hulu is the way to go. The ultimate decision as to which service you spend your money on is up to you.

When polled, Rush students chose Netflix s their preferred streaming platform over Hulu.
