Since Prom and Formal season has come around, The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush has opened their first ever Prom Room. The goal of the student-run boutique is to give the Rush student body the opportunity to dress beautifully, regardless of their financial situation. The Prom Room was created and is run by Lizmary Ortiz, Farah Nasher, Soraya Smith, and Evelyn Juanicio. Their sponsor is Ms. Spencer, the head of Rush’s vocal department.
The process of borrowing dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories is very simple; all you have to do is pick out and try on what you would like to borrow. In order to sign out an item, you must provide your name and advisory, the event that the item is to be used for, and the expected return date for it. All of the garments available in the Prom Room can be borrowed at no cost.
The Prom Room is open in the library, Room 105, during 6th period and after-school on Monday through Wednesday.
