Earlier this week, Sunday October 23, to be exact, our very own Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres 4 -3 and will be moving on to the World Series.

In doing that, they are the NLCs or National League Champions. We won the final game, Game 5, in the Top of the 9th inning when a pop-up fly hit by Carlos Baerga was caught by Nick Castellanos, causing the Padres to get their last out of the game. Fans all around the city were ecstatic as not only is this our first time in the Post-Season since 2011, but this is our first World Series trip since 2009!

If you have no clue how the playoffs work in Baseball, here is an explanation: The Wildcard round is a best-of-3 series. Then comes the division series, which is a best-of-5 series. The Division series, or the NLDS is when the wildcard team is assigned to play the winner of the division. Then comes the National League Championship Series, or the NLCS. That is a best-of-7 series. Finally, we arrive at the last round, the most exciting and stressful round of all, the World Series. This is the final round of the playoffs. A stressful best-of-7 series that decides who wins it all.

We managed to snag the last Wildcard spot and we were put up against the Saint Louis Cardinals. We won 2 games which led us to move forward. The Wildcard Round games took place on October 7 and 8, 2022. We managed to win both of the games and fans were thrilled we were moving on.

We managed to beat the Cardinals, so we were put up against the Atlanta Braves. We managed to beat them as well. We wound up losing one game, but we won the rest. The games took place on October 11, 12, 14, and 15. We only lost the game on the 11th. After pulling this off, Phillies fans everywhere were starting to worry that we may lose to the Padres. They’re a rough team and the teams only get harder to play as you move on. So will we pull off the NLCS and move on to the World Series?

Guess what? We did! When we were faced with the San Diego Padres in the NLCS, we only gave up 1 game. These teams only get harder as we go along. We are now one of the best teams in the MLB. Our games were scheduled for October 18, 19, 21, 22, and 23. We lost the game on the 19th. This past Sunday, Phillies fans everywhere celebrated this momentous achievement. The last time we’ve won a World Series was in 2008. This year, the Phillies could be 2022 World Series Champions!

Did you know if the World Series reaches games 6 and 7, the Phillies and our football team, the Eagles, will both be in Houston at the same time? What a mess that will be!

The World Series Games are scheduled for October 28, 29, 31. Then they run into November 1, 2, and 4. Each game begins at 8:03 pm (eastern time). The games will be live on Fox Sports, so if you’re interested in watching, that’s where to watch it!
