Jackie Park Show – Rush’s 10th Anniversary

By Michael Beaumont

The Jackie Park Winter Festival is an annual tradition at The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush where students of every major come together to pay tribute to Jackie Park, a former dance student at Rush whose life ended before it could even really begin to show what she was truly capable of. This show, arranged by Rush’s very own Dance instructor Denise Masters, pays tribute to Park’s memory by dedicating her last proposed song, Note to God, solely to the senior class as a rite of passage. What set this show apart from past iterations was this show marks the tenth anniversary since Rush has opened up as a high school in 2008. To mark this occasion, many former teachers of The Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush, including former principal Ms. Brown, returned to pay their respects. Ms. Masters herself even took to the stage for this special performance.
